Nightly Reverse One-Way Traffic Control on State Route 29 (SR-29) for Culvert Work in Between Rutherford, Oakville in Napa County

Night work scheduled to start Jan. 8 between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Napa County - Caltrans has scheduled reverse one-way traffic control of State Route 29 (SR-29) starting on Thursday, Jan. 8 between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next mornings for culvert replacement work and road stabilization on State Route 29 (SR-29) in between Rutherford and Oakville roads (south of Glos Lane).

The construction schedule that week is Thursday, Jan. 8 through Saturday, Jan. 10. Crews will take Sunday off and are scheduled to work Monday, Jan. 12 through Saturday, Jan. 17 between those same hours.

During this stage of construction, crews will begin to remove the existing culvert and replace it with a cast in place box culvert.

Flaggers will be present and Changeable Message Signs (CMS) signs will be posted to help the traveling public.

A full closure of SR-29 will be utilized later in the construction schedule. An updated advisory will be issued when those dates are confirmed.

Detour SR-29 Northbound toward St. Helena/Calistoga

  • Turn right onto Oakville Cross Road
  • Turn Left onto Silverado Trail Road
  • Turn Left onto SR-128 to Rutherford to get onto SR-29

Detour SR-29 Southbound toward the city of Napa

  • Turn left onto SR-128 in Rutherford
  • Turn right onto Silverado Road
  • Turn right onto Oakville Cross Road to get onto SR-29.

This emergency project is expected to last until spring, 2026.

All work is weather dependent. Future traffic advisories will be sent out if dates or times change. Drivers should expect delays and to slow down in the construction area to help crews stay safe.

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.
