Tallahassee Man Pleads Guilty to Attempted Enticement of a Minor

Tallahassee, Florida - Brandon Garrett Ursrey, 46, of Tallahassee, Florida has pleaded guilty in federal court in Tallahassee on one count of attempted enticement of a minor. John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, announced the guilty plea.

U.S. Attorney Heekin said: "Our state and federal law enforcement partners are committed to keeping our kids safe online and in our communities, and thanks to their relentless pursuit of predators who seek to sexually exploit and victimize children through the internet we have been able to successfully prosecute this defendant. My office will continue to aggressively prosecute these cases to ensure we keep these sick individuals locked behind bars and away from our kids."

Court records reflect that in November 2025, a multi-agency undercover operation was conducted to identify adults who use the internet to sexually exploit children. During the operation, the defendant contacted an undercover officer, who he believed to be a 15-year-old child, and engaged in sexually explicit conversation over a two-day period. The defendant made arrangements to meet at a Tallahassee apartment complex that he believed was the 15-year-old's residence in order to engage in sexual activity with the child. The defendant was arrested upon his arrival at the apartment complex. After his arrest, forensic analysis of the defendant's phone verified he was the one communicating with the undercover investigator.

Ursrey faces a minimum mandatory ten years up to life imprisonment and is scheduled for sentencing in federal court before Chief United States District Judge Allen C. Winsor on January 22, 2027, at 10:00 a.m. in Tallahassee, Florida.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Tallahassee Police Department, and St. John's County (Florida) Sheriff's Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Eric K Mountin.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
