Kaleida Health Hosting Free Community Health Fair at Tops on Jefferson Avenue and Maple Road (Amherst)

Kaleida Health, in collaboration with Tops Friendly Markets, is bringing vital health services and wellness education directly to the community with a weeklong health fair at the Tops on Jefferson Avenue and Maple Road (Amherst).

Community members are invited to stop by for free health screenings, expert tips and wellness resources - no appointment needed. Both days will feature a rotating lineup of services, including body fat and blood pressure screenings, nutritional counseling, primary and specialty care resources, pediatric and maternal support and more.

This is a unique opportunity for residents of all ages to take charge of their health, ask questions, and access trusted care - all at no cost.

Recap of the WNY Community Response Following May 14, 2022
Since the tragic mass shooting at the Tops Friendly Markets on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, NY on May 14, 2022, a number of initiatives and actions have taken place to support healing, remembrance and community resilience:

Establishment of the 5/14 Commission, dedicated to honoring the lives lost and creating space for healing, with direct input from victims' families

Development of a memorial and permanent monument at Jefferson Avenue and Best Street to honor those who were lost
-
Passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, signed into law by former President Joe Biden in response to the tragedy
-
Coordination of food deliveries to neighborhood residents during the closure and remodeling of Tops on Jefferson Ave.

Launch of open-air food markets on Jefferson Avenue to maintain access to fresh food
-
Creation of the 5/14 Survivors Fund to support victims and their families
-
Establishment of the Buffalo Together Community Fund to aid in long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts
