Metro Social Services to Feed 1,000

Who: Metro Social Services in partnership with Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee, Metro Nashville Office of Emergency Management, and Nashville Black Police Officers Association

What: Metro Social Services is giving away more and feeding more in its largest ever Food Pop Up giveaway. At this week's Food Pop Up, enough food will be provided to feed at least 1,000 people and families. Previously, MSS has fed up to 500 individuals and families per event.
Last week, staffed filled the Municipal Auditorium with hundreds of giveaway food items and assembled the food boxes to be handed out Friday, Jan.16.

This week, MSS staff will assemble bags of protein (meat products). Combined, the non-perishable food boxes and bags of protein can sustain an individual or family for up to at least a few weeks.

This Food Pop Up is part of the department's signature program "Hunger No More Nashville", MSS' response to food insecurity in Nashville. This initiative was formulated based on the department's signature reports "Hunger In Nashville " and "The High Cost of Low Wages" that found Nashville residents and families being plagued by food insecurity.

"This giveaway is especially critical as some of our most vulnerable residents - seniors, disabled, children, and families - are still recovering from the SNAP benefit disruption and changes that compounded their pre-existing lack of access to food. Additionally, costs remain high, but we want to remind everyone that we remain steadfast in helping them through this difficult journey," said Renée Pratt, executive director of Metro Social Services.

When: 8 a.m., January 16, 2026
Friday's giveaway expected to last roughly 60-90 minutes. Staff will be on-site at 6 a.m. to begin setup.

Where: Nissan Stadium (Lot R - North), One Titans Way, Nashville, Tennessee 37213
