MCFR Responds to Fatal Residential Structure Fire in Citra

Marion County Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire with possible entrapment at approximately 11:24 p.m. on Monday, June 29, in the 1500 block of NE 162nd Street in Citra.

Engine 19, Rescue 19, and Battalion 1 arrived on scene at 11:29 p.m. to find a single-story residence fully involved in fire. Firefighters immediately entered the structure to conduct a primary search for occupants. During the search, one adult male was located inside the home. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While search operations were underway, fire crews initiated an aggressive exterior fire attack to bring the fire under control. Additional personnel from Anthony Station 1, North Marion Station 11, Orange Lake Station 9, and Citra Station 2 responded to assist with fire suppression and scene operations.

The fire was declared under control at 11:43 p.m.

Marion County Fire Rescue Fire Investigators are working alongside the Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, and the district medical examiner's office to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The investigation remains active.
