Pennacchio Requests Feds Launch Investigation into NJ MVC Voter Registration Disaster

Senator Joe Pennacchio (R-Morris, Passaic) sent a letter to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche requesting that the United States Department of Justice immediately launch an investigation of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission's (MVC) automatic voter registration system.

An excerpt from the letter reads:

"These improper registrations were discovered by State officials in 2024 according to the Governor, while the public was kept entirely in the dark. Making matters worse, the State says it is only now acting to correct the voter rolls despite being aware of the issue for some time. As a result of this inexcusable delay, hundreds of illegal votes have been cast by these ineligible voters, that we know of, diluting the voting power of legal voters throughout the State for years.

All the while, New Jersey Democrats have insisted that our elections are safe and secure. They have dismissed and ridiculed concerns repeatedly raised by Republicans about voter integrity. Shockingly, the Governor continued doing so even as she announced that Republicans' fears had come to fruition. Her unwillingness to take accountability, or to acknowledge reality, is disturbing.

The Governor indicated that she has ordered an investigation into the matter. However, I have real concerns about transparency and the diligence with which the Administration will investigate this and other voter integrity issues."
