Investigation Continues Following Saturday's Fatal Shooting During Attempted Carjacking
The investigation is continuing into Saturday afternoon's fatal shooting during an attempted carjacking on 8th Avenue South. A 44-year-old food delivery driver had picked up an order from a nearby restaurant and walked back to his parked Dodge Charger when a gunman approached and demanded the car.
The 44-year-old retrieved a pistol from inside the Charger. The carjacking suspect shot him in the leg. The 44-year-old returned fire, fatally wounding the man.
The carjacking suspect carried no ID. Attempts are being made to identify him through fingerprints.
The 44-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of the leg wound.
