SCO Secretary-General Meets with the UN Resident Coordinator in China
On 14 November 2025, a meeting took place at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Beijing between SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and the UN Resident Coordinator (Resident Coordinator-Representative) in the People's Republic of China, Siddharth Chatterjee. The meeting was also attended by heads and representatives of several specialized UN agencies operating in China.
The Secretary-General emphasized that in recent years, relations between the SCO and the UN have significantly strengthened, serving as an example of effective cooperation between a universal global organization and a regional organization.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on opportunities to expand practical, results-oriented cooperation between the SCO, the UN, and its specialized agencies. Special attention was paid to the outcomes achieved during the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, as well as to the agreements reached following the SCO Secretary-General's contacts with senior officials from UN institutions.
The parties agreed to maintain regular exchanges of ideas and continue their close working cooperation.
