Iowa to Receive Over $9.1 Million in FEMA Funding for Emergency Warning Systems, Property Acquisitions

BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA - U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) welcomed an announcement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that Iowa will receive over $9.1 million in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding to support local communities through property acquisitions, emergency warning systems and other projects. The funding will benefit Iowans in the following counties: Dallas, Emmet, Jasper, Polk, Sioux and Woodbury.

"Iowans are no strangers to severe weather," Grassley said. "This new FEMA funding will help these communities continue to recover and be better prepared for future storms. In Washington, I'll keep fighting to ensure Iowa gets the resources needed to rebuild and recover."

The awards are:

• Dallas County Emergency Management Agency: $469,498.18 to fund warning and alert systems.
• Jasper County: $433,851.10 to fund warning and alert systems.
• City of Redfield: $193,800 to fund generators and emergency power.
• City of Urbandale: $3,354,325.16 to fund the acquisition and demolition of six residential properties damaged by flooding.
• City of Urbandale: $74,540.56 to fund the subrecipient management costs for the City of Urbandale to acquire and demolish six residential properties damaged by flooding.
• City of Grimes: $357,695.25 to fund property acquisition as a result of severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes.
• City of Estherville: $133,600 to fund property acquisitions, elevations, mitigation reconstruction and floodproofing.
• City of Correctionville: $673,784.83 to fund property acquisition, elevations, mitigation reconstruction and floodproofing.
• Sioux County: $1,645,275 to fund the acquisition of five residential structures that were substantially damaged by flooding.
• Sioux County: $36,561.70 to fund the subrecipient management costs to acquire five residential structures.
• Sioux County: $1,120,762.50 to fund the acquisition of two residential structures that were damaged by flooding.
• Sioux County: $74,717.50 to fund subrecipient management costs to acquire two residential structures damaged by flooding.
• Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management: $542,509.13 to fund management costs due to severe storms.
