BSNC Honors Retiring Directors Eugene Asicksik and Tony A. Weyiouanna, Sr.

BSNC extends its sincere appreciation to Directors Eugene Asicksik and Tony A. Weyiouanna, Sr., who are retiring from the Board of Directors after many years of dedicated service to the Corporation and Our People.

Director Eugene Asicksik of Shaktoolik has served on the Board for nearly four decades, first serving from 1986 through 2022 and returning to the Board in May 2023. Asicksik is retiring before the expiration of his current term in 2027. Throughout his tenure, Asicksik has provided valuable leadership and a strong commitment to shareholders and the Bering Strait region. In addition to his service on the Board, he has held leadership roles with Shaktoolik Native Corporation, the City of Shaktoolik, Bering Straits Regional Housing Authority, and was President and CEO of Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation for many years.

Director Tony A. Weyiouanna, Sr. of Nome and Shishmaref served on the BSNC Board from 2007 to 2010 and returned in 2023. His current term expires in 2026. Weyiouanna brought extensive regional experience to the Board, including his work in land management with Kawerak, Inc. and service as Executive Director, President, and Chairman of Shishmaref Native Corporation. He also served as President of the Native Village of Shishmaref, City Planner and City Clerk for the City of Shishmaref, and in leadership roles with Shishmaref Emergency Services and the Shishmaref Dog Mushers Association.

"Their many years of service have helped strengthen BSNC and advance its mission for shareholders, descendants, and future generations. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Eugene's wife, Rhoda, and Tony's wife, Fannie, as well as their families, for their support throughout their years of service."

"They both have been meaningful and effective representatives for our Shareholders, and the Board wishes the very best to Eugene, Tony and their families."

Weyiouanna's seat will be filled through the 2026 Board of Directors election. The vacancy resulting from Asicksik's retirement will be filled by appointment by the Board of Directors in accordance with BSNC's governing documents. BSNC will provide additional information regarding the appointment process, including how interested shareholders may be considered for the vacancy, in the near future.
