WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) and the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) today commended the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) for unanimously adopting a resolution to engage with USDA and HHS to ensure that the safety and nutritional benefits of vegetable oils are accurately represented.
The resolution, which was approved by the convened Secretaries, Administrators, Commissioners and Directors of Agriculture for their respective states, reads:
NASDA will submit public comments on any relevant USDA or HHS guidance or rulemaking, including but not limited to those seeking alignment with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, to ensure that the safety, the body of evidence-based research, and the health and nutritional benefits of vegetable oils are accurately and scientifically represented.
CRA and NOPA are especially grateful for Midwestern Agricultural Department leaders for proposing and advocating for this resolution.

About the Corn Refiners Association (CRA)
The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) is the national trade association representing the corn refining industry of the United States. CRA and its predecessors have served this important segment of American agribusiness since 1913. Corn refiners manufacture sweeteners, starch, advanced bioproducts, corn oil and feed products from corn components such as starch oil, protein, and fiber.
About NOPA:
Organized in 1930, the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) represents the U.S. soybean, canola, flaxseed, safflower seed, and sunflower seed-crushing industries. NOPA's membership is engaged in the processing of oilseeds for meal and oil that are utilized in the manufacturing of food, feed, renewable fuels, and industrial products. NOPA's 20 member companies operate 71 softseed and soybean solvent extraction plants across 20 states, crushing over 98% of all soybeans processed in the United States, the equivalent to more than 2 billion bushels annually.
