Rege Nephro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto; CEO: Akifumi Morinaka; "Rege Nephro") hereby announces that it has signed an amendment agreement to extend the research period and further promote its joint research with the research group of Professor Kenji Osafune ("Osafune Lab") at the Department of Clinical Application, Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, Kyoto University (Director: Koji Eto; "CiRA") and Meiji Seika Pharma Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshiaki Nagasato; "Meiji Seika Pharma").

In this joint research, the three parties will utilize the iPS cell-derived human disease models developed by Rege Nephro and Osafune Lab to replicate and analyze disease pathology at the human cell level, and evaluate the efficacy of new therapeutic candidates.
Furthermore, with an eye toward expanding into diverse therapeutic modalities beyond small molecule compounds, the project aims to create novel therapies for intractable and rare diseases by combining this platform with Meiji Seika Pharma's drug discovery expertise.

Rege Nephro positions iPS cell-derived human disease models as a core technology of its drug discovery platform and is advancing drug discovery research targeting multiple intractable and genetic diseases. Through this joint research, Rege Nephro aims to expand the application scope of iPS cell-derived human disease models in drug discovery and establish new drug discovery approaches combined with various therapeutic modalities. Rege Nephro will continue to advance its iPS drug discovery platform through collaboration with pharmaceutical companies and academia, striving to create new treatment options for diseases with high unmet medical needs.
