Jakarta, 22 July 2026: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe welcomed Mr Gualdino da Silva, President of Timor-Leste's Autoridade Nacional do Petróleo (ANP), for a courtesy visit at the ERIA Office in Jakarta.

ANP is Timor-Leste's national regulatory authority responsible for overseeing the country's petroleum and mineral resources sector and advancing policies that support the sustainable development of its energy industry.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas of collaboration between ERIA and ANP, particularly in support of Timor-Leste's energy transition and long-term sustainable development. Discussions covered carbon capture and storage (CCS), decarbonisation strategies, biofuel policy, and broader opportunities for policy dialogue, knowledge sharing, and technical co-operation.

President Watanabe reaffirmed ERIA's commitment to supporting ASEAN and Timor-Leste through evidence-based policy research, capacity building, and regional dialogue to advance energy security, sustainability, and inclusive economic development.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their commitment to strengthening co-operation and exploring concrete areas for future collaboration on sustainable energy policy and regional energy transition initiatives.
