Governor Ayotte Commemorates John Stark Day at The Founders Academy

CONCORD, N.H. - Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte participated in a ceremony at The Founders Academy in Manchester to commemorate John Stark Day.

Mayor Jay Ruais, Commissioner of Education Caitlin Davis, and Rep. Maureen Mooney of Merrimack, former Dean of The Founders Academy, joined the Governor and Founders students, faculty, and staff in honoring the life and legacy of General John Stark, who famously coined the Granite State's "Live Free or Die" motto.

In 2017, students from The Founders Academy successfully lobbied the legislature to move John Stark Day to the second Monday in April so schools across the state could celebrate New Hampshire's Revolutionary War hero while in session, rather than the previous date which occurred during spring break.
