McCombie Talks Property Tax Relief, Urges Governor to Get on Board

House Republican Leader Tony McCombie held a press conference today alongside her colleague, State Representative Dan Ugaste (Geneva) to discuss the long-standing challenge Illinois families continue to face: the high cost of property taxes.

While Illinois residents pay some of the highest property taxes in the nation, Governor Pritzker recently spoke to the press to say Republicans are just confused; he went on to blame past lawmakers for underfunding schools, and now local school boards, who he says should be doing more to reduce costs.

"Republicans are not confused," said McCombie during today's press conference.

"We, Republicans, are trying to do our job and we are certainly not passing the blame to our locals. We blame you, your policies and your priorities. We are also not the ones proposing tax hikes to fund out-of-control spending and out of touch priorities. Governor Pritzker continues to pass the buck on one of the biggest challenges Illinois families face year after year."
