HARRISBURG - Grant funding totaling $1.25 million has been awarded for the development of a new fire station in the 88th District, according to Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland).
The funding comes from the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) and will be used for the construction of a new fire station on a parcel of five purchased and consolidated lots on South York Street in Mechanicsburg Borough.
"Mechanicsburg Borough has spent years planning the consolidation of its two fire stations into a single, modern facility, which has been an effort supported through multiple rounds of state funding since the project began," said Delozier. "The new station will strengthen emergency services for families and businesses across Cumberland County by bringing firefighters together under one roof, improving coordination and enhancing response times. This investment represents steady collaboration to advance a project that will serve the community for decades to come. Once completed, the updated facility will stand as a reliable hub for first responders and a lasting resource that reinforces Cumberland County's commitment to public safety and preparedness."
"I am proud to have advocated for this grant, as well as others in the past, to advance this important project in my district," Delozier added.
The dollars for these projects come directly from the Fiscal Year 2025-26 state Capital budget, which Delozier supported.
The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.
