Diving Skin Deep: Optimizing Dermatologic Care Through a Broader LensUpdates & StatementsResearchSkin Conditions • • •

At Pfizer, we believe advancing health equity begins with clear-eyed leadership and a commitment to understanding the structural and social factors that shape patient experiences. As part of our mission to create breakthroughs that change people's lives, we are constantly speaking with patients, practitioners, and experts to learn more about the challenges they face.

Recently, our dermatology team led a broad effort to gather information and understanding around the barriers healthcare professionals face when providing appropriate and efficient care for their patients' skin conditions.

We convened leading experts across dermatology and health systems to share their real-world perspectives. Their insights helped define the themes reflected in a robust new report that shines a light on the challenges healthcare providers and their patients face when needing care (many of which apply to the broader state of healthcare, not just dermatology), and also offers some potential solutions.

This work began with a simple goal: to listen. We set out to understand what clinicians are seeing every day to determine what's working, what isn't, and where meaningful opportunities for improvement remain. Their perspectives informed every part of this report.

Guided by our Health Equity in Dermatology mission - our "3 Cs" - we are committed to acknowledging system gaps with honesty, creating pathways that address them, and communicating insights that can help drive measurable progress toward more equitable care. This collaborative effort offers a clear, comprehensive view designed to support better outcomes for all patients.

Our objective is straightforward: to illuminate the current state of dermatology care today so we can make more informed decisions that improve care for tomorrow.
