September 15 is National Voter Registration Day

The City of West Hollywood joins thousands of organizations across the country to recognize National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The day serves as a nationwide call to action, uniting communities throughout the nation to boost voter registration rates and encourage civic engagement as the foundation of our democracy.

It is the perfect moment to get #VoteReady for the 2026 General Municipal Election, which will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. If you are not registered to vote, register today. If you are registered to vote, it is a good idea to check your voter registration. To register or to confirm your registration, visit the LA County Registrar-Recorder Clerk's website lavote.gov/vrstatus or call (800) 815-2666.

The City of West Hollywood recognizes that voter registration is a fundamental step in the democratic process. The deadline to register to vote for the November 3, 2026 General Election is Monday, October 19, 2026. Voters who are registered by the deadline will automatically receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot.

Eligible voters who miss the October 19 registration deadline may still register and vote through California's Same Day Voter Registration process, also known as Conditional Voter Registration. From October 20 through Election Day, eligible voters may register and cast a ballot at a County Elections Office or Vote Center. Voters who register after the October 19 deadline will not automatically receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot and will instead obtain and cast a ballot through the Same Day Voter Registration process.

The City works to provide reliable, accessible, and transparent voter registration and election information to ensure that community members understand their voting options and can participate in the electoral process.

Three West Hollywood City Council seats will be decided in the upcoming General Municipal Election. City of West Hollywood Councilmembers each serve for a term of four years and are elected at large.

All West Hollywood active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election. The LA County elections office will begin mailing ballots by October 5, 2026 and ballot drop-off locations open on October 6, 2026. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, at a Vote Center, or at an LA County elections office. Many Vote Centers open for early in-person voting beginning on October 24, 2026.
