The Municipality of Anchorage has announced a temporary closure of Lake Otis Parkway just north of E. 42nd Avenue from 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 through 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21 to replace a failing storm drain pipe.
During this period, no through traffic will be allowed on Lake Otis Parkway at the project area, though local access and detour routes will remain available.
This work is part of the broader E. 42nd Avenue Improvement Project, which includes roadway reconstruction, pedestrian improvements, upgraded lighting, new pavement and storm drainage enhancements. Phase 1 construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed this fall.
Community members traveling near the UAA Anchorage campus area should plan for delays, follow posted detour signage and allow extra travel time during the closure period.
