Mayor Kraham Delivers 2027 Budget Address

- Spending Plan For Next Year Includes Investments In Public Safety, Rec Center Expansion And Plans For New Medical District -

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) - Mayor Jared M. Kraham on Tuesday delivered his 2027 Budget Address at City Hall, outlining a $119.2 million spending plan for next year that includes major investments in public safety, youth recreation and neighborhoods across Binghamton.

Mayor Kraham said: "The 2027 Budget puts into place the resources we need to build on the progress of the last five years and deliver lasting change to Binghamton. It also keeps the City on sound financial footing heading into the future, protecting taxpayers even as cities and households across New York State struggle with rising prices. Years of smart, responsible budgeting have put the City in a position to weather the fiscal challenges of today and be bold as we build the Binghamton of tomorrow."

Highlights of Mayor Kraham's 2027 Proposed Budget include:

• Investments in public safety, including funding to continue neighborhood foot and bike patrols, add a patrol officer position, purchase three new police vehicles and complete the design of a new fire station on the North Side

• Funding to increase staffing at the City-run youth recreation center downtown and expand programming

• Funding to begin planning for a new medical business district around UHS Binghamton General Hospital on the South Side

• $10.3 million in infrastructure upgrades across Binghamton, including paving roads, fixing curbs and sidewalks, and replacing aging water and sewer lines

• $675,000 for improvements to Center City Park, Cheri A. Lindsey Memorial Park and First Ward Park

• Nearly $221,000 to support neighborhood blight removal
