CITY OF INDIO ANNOUNCES MARIA ALIOTTI AS NEW ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER

INDIO, CA (September 28, 2026) - The City of Indio is pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Aliotti as its new Assistant City Manager. Aliotti will officially join the City's executive leadership team on October 5, 2026, bringing more than three decades of local government experience and a broad background in municipal administration, finance, economic development, community services, redevelopment and organizational leadership.

The recruitment search generated significant interest, attracting 111 applicants from throughout California as well as several candidates from outside the state. Following the comprehensive evaluation process, Aliotti was selected and as Assistant City Manager, she will work closely with City Manager Jonathan Nicks and the City's executive leadership team to support Citywide operations, advance City Council and Strategic Plan priorities, strengthen coordination across departments and help guide major initiatives as Indio continues to grow.

"Throughout the recruitment process, she demonstrated the leadership, judgment and collaborative approach we were looking for in our next Assistant City Manager."

Aliotti's municipal career spans more than 30 years. Aliotti most recently served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Pittsburg, California, where she supported the City Manager and City Council in overseeing day-to-day municipal operations and managed several major City functions and departments. During her tenure, she also served as Interim City Manager and Finance Director, providing executive and fiscal leadership during periods of organizational transition.

Prior to becoming Pittsburg's Assistant City Manager in 2021, she served as the City's Director of Community Services and Redevelopment Manager. In those roles, she oversaw programs and operations involving redevelopment, housing, development projects, property management, and other municipal services. Her leadership responsibilities expanded significantly as Assistant City Manager, where she oversaw functions including City Clerk Services, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Recreation, while also helping prepare the City's annual budget and representing the organization at City Council and community meetings.

Earlier in her career, she worked for the City of Antioch before progressing through increasingly responsible leadership positions. Aliotti earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management, with honors, from Saint Mary's College of California.
