Rep. Mary Ann Santos Applauds Henry County Resource Court on Being Named a Model Court by the Council of Accountability Court Judges

ATLANTA - State Representative Mary Ann Santos (D-McDonough) congratulates the Henry County Resource Court (HCRC) for being selected as a model court by the Council of Accountability Court Judges (CACJ) on August 24, 2026. The designation is an acknowledgement of a court's commitment to upholding Georgia's mental health court standards and best practices.

"I applaud the Henry County Resource Court for their admirable work to maintain the highest level of standards and practice for those in Henry County struggling with mental health and substance use disorders," said Rep. Santos. "The individuals and resources that make up this court are crucial in contributing to the well-being of citizens across Henry County and the state. I extend my gratitude to my colleagues in the Georgia General Assembly for their commitment to supporting these vital resources."

Founded in 2009, HCRC offers alternative methods to incarceration for citizens within the criminal justice system as a result of their mental illness and substance use disorder problems. The program's goal is to decrease the criminalization of participants through early and ongoing identification and treatment, thereby reducing recidivism, assisting participants to become productive members of the community and enhancing public safety. Judge Chaundra D. Lewis has presided over the court since 2025.

The title of model court given by the CACJ comes with the responsibility to serve as a resource for other accountability courts across the state offering various assistance including sharing information and site visits.

ATLANTA - La Representante Estatal Mary Ann Santos (D-McDonough) felicita a la Corte de Recursos del Condado de Henry (HCRC, por sus siglas en inglés) por haber sido seleccionada como corte modelo por el Consejo de Jueces de Cortes de Responsabilidad (CACJ, por sus siglas en inglés) el 24 de agosto de 2026. Esta distinción reconoce el compromiso de una corte con el cumplimiento de las normas y mejores prácticas de las cortes de salud mental de Georgia.

"Reconozco a la Corte de Recursos del Condado de Henry por su admirable labor de mantener el más alto nivel de normas y prácticas para las personas del Condado de Henry que enfrentan trastornos de salud mental y de consumo de sustancias", dijo la Rep. Santos. "Las personas y los recursos que conforman esta corte son fundamentales para el bienestar de los ciudadanos de todo el Condado de Henry y del estado. Representative Mary Ann Santos represents the citizens of District 117, which includes a portion of Henry County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Judiciary, Juvenile and State Properties committees.
