WASHINGTON - The Senate Judiciary Committee today advanced by voice vote six bipartisan law enforcement bills amid National Police Week:
"Every American owes a debt of gratitude to the brave men and women in blue who put their lives on the line to protect our communities. Law enforcement officers deserve our wholehearted support to ensure they and their families are protected," Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said. "The legislation the Judiciary Committee advanced this National Police Week will boost investments in local police departments, improve first responders' access to lifesaving mental health resources and benefits programs and crack down on dangerous contraband in federal prisons. As always, I'm proud to Back the Blue and will continue my work to make sure these critical bills are signed into law."
Grassley led 65 of his Senate colleagues in a resolution this week recognizing the service and sacrifice of America's courageous law enforcement officers and their families.
Additionally, the Judiciary Committee advanced by voice vote TREY's Law, which would void non-disclosure agreements silencing survivors of child sexual abuse. The committee also reported the following nominations:
