Turner recently helped achieve a major construction milestone on a large-scale Grade-A commercial development in Western India by completing approximately 5,113 cubic meters of M45 Temperature-Controlled Concrete (TCC) for a raft foundation during a continuous 44-hour pour.

This achievement demonstrates how integrated project management, technical expertise, digital monitoring, and close collaboration can support the successful delivery of complex mass concrete construction.

About the Development

The raft forms part of a multi-phase commercial development spanning approximately 13 acres, transforming a former industrial site into a future-ready business campus with premium office spaces, retail, landscaped public areas, and modern amenities.

Phase 1 comprises approximately 100,000 square meters of built-up area across two commercial blocks. The development has a strong focus on sustainability and digital construction and is targeting LEED Platinum certification.

Turner is providing integrated project management, preconstruction, cost consultancy, and BIM management services across the development.

Executing the 5,113 m³ Pour

Delivering a continuous concrete pour of this scale required extensive planning across concrete production, transportation, placement, equipment, manpower, quality control, and site logistics.

During the 44-hour operation, the team navigated elevated concrete temperatures, intermittent equipment breakdowns, traffic and logistical restrictions, and resource constraints. Through timely corrective measures and close coordination among project stakeholders, contractors, and ready-mix concrete suppliers, the team completed the operation while maintaining required quality, safety, and performance standards.

"When you're looking at 44 hours of continuous operations, even one small failure can bring everything to a standstill. We spent nearly a month planning, challenging assumptions, and asking ourselves, 'What could go wrong?' Our focus was on identifying and eliminating any single point of failure before the pour began. The 44 hours were the real test, but success was built during that month of preparation. Everyone came together as One Team, with a shared commitment to delivering safely on time and to the quality expected."

Technology, Quality & Collaboration

Temperature management was critical given the volume of concrete being placed. The team implemented Temperature-Controlled Concrete (TCC) measures and maintained continuous quality surveillance throughout the operation.

SmartRock maturity monitoring technology was also deployed to track concrete temperature and maturity development, providing data-driven insights into concrete performance. Ongoing analysis of maturity data, together with cube compressive strength testing, provides further verification against specified performance requirements.

Successfully completing the 5,113 m³ raft foundation pour within a continuous 44-hour operation represents an important milestone for the development. It reflects the value of integrated planning, construction technology, quality management, and strong stakeholder collaboration in delivering technically demanding construction activities at scale.

For Turner, the achievement reinforces a continued commitment to construction excellence, innovation, and collaborative project delivery across complex developments in India.
