Clarkson University will host a conversation via Zoom with New York Times sports reporter Ken Belson on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event.
Belson will speak with Clarkson University Professor of History Stephen Casper about how the NFL became more than a game-its impact on players, culture, and society.
The conversation at Clarkson precedes the publishing of Belson's book on Oct. 14. The book is titled Every Day Is Sunday: How Jerry Jones, Robert Kraft, and Roger Goodell Turned the NFL into a Cultural & Economic Juggernaut.
In Every Day is Sunday, Ken Belson traces the evolution of the league from "one of the four US professional sports," to the superpower it is today. Belson illustrates how the league's rise coincided with the arrival of Jones & Kraft in the early 90's. He provides an inside look on how these two men reshaped the league, taking readers into the secretive owner's meeting, how they decided Goodell was the right man to place as Commissioner, and how the three built, wielded, and held on to their collective power.
Those interested in attending the Zoom conversation on Sept. 28 should reach out to Casper at [email protected] for more details.
