Minister Konaković met with the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Sherif Fathy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Sherif Fathy, on January 17, 2026, at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization during Dr. Fathy's official visit to Egypt.

The discussions focused on current cooperation and the potential for further development. Both sides emphasized that the relationship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt is built on strong foundations and has significant potential for growth through economic projects and more intensive contacts at various levels. Special attention was given to tourism, with both ministers expressing interest in enhancing cooperation and creating joint initiatives.

Minister Konaković highlighted Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment to promoting specific projects that would foster a closer connection between the tourism sectors of both countries. The Memorandum of Understanding in tourism, signed in Sarajevo in August 2025, along with the launch of the first charter flight on the Cairo-Sarajevo route, has opened new opportunities for promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Egyptian market and developing collaborative projects. It was noted that consistently implementing the previously signed memoranda and protocols in tourism, labour, and employment will serve as a foundation for future initiatives.

The ministers also discussed cultural cooperation through exhibitions, festivals, and other events, agreeing that such projects further strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries.

Minister Fathy remarked that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an attractive destination for Egyptian tourists and that there is considerable potential for new joint initiatives in tourism and culture.
