City of Spokane's 2026 construction season is underway with three significant projects impacting traffic starting Monday, March 30. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow for extra time, and be alert for frequent traffic changes. Please slow down for everyone's safety and make the extra effort to support businesses impacted by the necessary projects. This year's work includes integrated projects to maintain and improve utility infrastructure, fresh street surfaces, new traffic configurations, and improved sidewalk and pedestrian routes. Current obstruction information impacting drivers in the City is available on the construction webpage.
This $3 million project replaces a water main, upgrades ADA ramps, improves stormwater management, and resurfaces the street with a grind and overlay. Crews will be working in the curb lanes and traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel in each direction. Access to businesses will be maintained. Work begins Monday, March 30 and is expected to be completed by mid-June.
What to Expect:
The full reconstruction of east Wellesley Avenue between Freya Street and Havana Street will include stormwater improvements, street trees, and replacing the water distribution main. Additionally, a shared use path will be installed on the south side of Wellesley in this section. This $4.5 million project begins Monday, March 30 and is estimated to be completed at the end of July.
What to Expect:
This $3.3 million project carries over from 2025 and enhances water, sewer, stormwater, and street infrastructure in the Northwest Terrace area. This improved connection from the Low Water Pressure System increases water reliability and supports future growth. This final stage of the project begins Monday, March 30 and is expected to be completed by mid-May.
