FAA Proposes $77,750 Fine Against TiendaMIA Xipron, Inc. for Alleged Violation of Hazardous Materials Regulations

WASHINGTON - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $77,750 civil penalty against TiendaMIA Xipron, Inc., of Medley, Florida, for allegedly violating U.S. Department of Transportation hazardous materials regulations.

The FAA alleges that in November 2024, TiendaMIA offered to a freight broker multiple pallets of an undeclared shipment that consisted, in part, of "EcoFlow River 2 Portable Power Stations" containing 256 watt-hour lithium-ion batteries. The freight broker then forwarded the shipment to Avianca Cargo Air for transportation by air. Lithium-ion batteries are classified as a hazardous material.

The FAA alleges the shipment was not accompanied by the required hazardous materials transportation documentation, and the materials were not properly classed, described, packaged, marked, labeled, or in the proper condition for shipment. Further, the FAA alleges TiendaMIA did not provide the required emergency response information and failed to properly train employees who prepare hazmat shipments for transportation by air.

TiendaMIA has 30 days after receiving the FAA's notice to respond to the agency.
