Overnight shelter temporarily relocated to First Presbyterian

June 8, 2026

The overnight homeless shelter at West Gray and James Garner Avenue will be closed on 6/8/26 while critical repairs and replacements are made related to Fire Code requirements.

The closure was prompted by communication and a facility walk-through by the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal's Office, alongside local Fire Prevention personnel. The shelter is expected to be closed 1-4 days while the situation is remedied.

First Presbyterian Church Norman, 555 S. University Boulevard, will be offering temporary shelter to those in need during this time. CityCare, the shelter's regular operator, will coordinate overnight shelter operations at the church which will begin taking guests at 5 p.m.

Individuals in general need of assistance can reach out to the Cleveland County Continuum of Care or dial 211. Relevant updates regarding this matter will be shared to Normanok.gov.
