Dylan Clinger is the Western Nevada College Overall Student Employee of the Year.
Western Nevada College is proud to recognize its outstanding student employees as part of 2026 National Student Employment Appreciation Week, April 13-17.
Selected from a strong pool of nominees, this year's honorees exemplify the dedication, professionalism and impact student workers bring to campus each day.
"Whether you have student employees who work directly for you or you just pass by them on occasion, I assure you - our student workforce absolutely helps to keep our campus wheels spinning," said WNC Scholarship and Student Employment Coordinator Temple Campana. "These students choose to support our campus by working up to 20 hours weekly helping staff, other students and the community in endless ways. They deserve to be celebrated."
Leading the group is Overall Student Employee of the Year Dylan Clinger from the President's Office. Nominator Tracy Mendibles said, "Dylan exemplifies the values of Western Nevada College through his service, professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence. He consistently performs at a level that exceeds expectations for a student employee and makes a meaningful impact on our campus community."
Community Service honoree Trina Hoffer of Continuing Education was praised by nominator Beth Patrick: "Even though it falls outside her role, Trina answers each person with patience, professionalism and grace. She is a tremendous asset not only for Continuing Education, but for the Advancement team and the college as a whole."
Diversity & Inclusion honoree Riley Draper from Academic Advising & Access was recognized by Kennadie Frias, who shared, "Riley's impact comes not only from grand gestures, but from the everyday way she shows up for others with a warm smile. Because of her, our workplace is more inclusive, welcoming and supportive for all."
Leadership honoree Jocelyn Olvera Cabral of Financial Assistance was also nominated by Frias: "Jocelyn's ability to balance responsibility, support others, and maintain a focused attitude speaks to her natural leadership ability. She will undoubtedly make an incredible nurse, and her leadership qualities are already making a meaningful impact on those around her."
Technology & Innovation honoree Jennifer Arambula from the Information Desk was recognized by Patrick for her adaptability and skill development: "Jennifer has been cross-trained in WNC's Copy Center and often only needs to be shown something once to pick it up. She has quickly learned new systems while further developing her skills in familiar programs, helping keep operations running smoothly."
Critical Thinking honoree Melany Martinez, also from the Information Desk, received praise from both Frias and Patrick. Frias noted, "What truly stands out is how intentionally she works through questions and challenges. Rather than offering quick answers, she focuses on getting things right." Patrick added, "Melany learns quickly and requires very little direction to succeed. When assigned a large organizational project, she went beyond what was asked and delivered work which immediately benefitted the entire team."
Receiving honorable mention are Alyssa Ayers, Cora Beck, Vielka Lopez Mungola and Cecilia Carrillo Villa.
WNC will celebrate these exceptional students throughout the week, recognizing the vital role student employees play in supporting the college community.
"Student employees play an essential role in the daily life and success of Western Nevada College," said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. "Their dedication, professionalism and commitment to service not only support our campus operations, but also enrich the experience of our students, faculty and community. We are incredibly proud of this year's honorees and grateful for the positive impact they make every day."
