City of Ocala Risk Manager Recognized as Risk Manager of the Year

OCALA, Fla. (Aug. 18, 2026) - City of Ocala Risk Manager Richard Dennis was recognized during Tuesday's City Council meeting as the Risk Manager of the Year for the North and Central Florida Territory by Public Risk Underwriters of Florida, Inc. (PRU).

The award recognizes Dennis' commitment to excellence in risk management and the positive impact of this leadership efforts on the City of Ocala.

Dennis has served as the City of Ocala's Risk Manager since November 2021 and brings more than 25 years of experience in risk management across the public and private sectors. He has worked in public-sector risk management since 2010, following more than a decade of experience in the private sector.

Under Dennis' leadership, the City has continued to strengthen its risk management practices through technology, process improvements, employee training and data-driven safety initiatives. These efforts include new in-house tools for inspections and incident reporting, ongoing employee safety training and enhancements to the City's fleet safety program.
