US-131 repaving in Wexford County starts Aug. 17

CADILLAC, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $3.1 million to repave 8.4 miles of US-131 from the White Pine Trail overpass to north of the Mackinac Trail overpass in Wexford County. The project includes repaving both directions of US-131, the entrance and exit ramps at M-115, and the entrance and exit ramps of the US-131 Cadillac Rest Area.

This project is separate from work on Aug. 10 to replace a culvert beneath the M-115 entrance ramp to southbound US-131.

Traffic restrictions:
This project will require single-lane closures and shoulder closures with traffic shifts on US-131, shoulder closures and traffic shifts on the US-131 ramps at M-115, traffic shifts on M-115 at the US-131 ramps, and limited closures of the Cadillac Rest Area during repaving.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 26 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This work includes widening the median shoulder, and will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of the roadway and ramps.
