Proper Lighting, a White Background and a Current License Are Key to Successful Approval

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is reminding customers that a picture-perfect photo is an important step in successfully obtaining a Georgia Digital License or ID. Customers applying for their digital credential should pay close attention to photo quality, lighting and background requirements to help ensure their application is approved without unnecessary delays.

The main reason for hitting a snag in adding a license or ID to a smartphone wallet is that customers are not using their most recent, unexpired Georgia license or ID when completing the transaction.

DDS encourages customers to follow these simple tips when completing their Digital application:

• Use Your Most Recent License: Customers must use their most recently issued, unexpired license or ID card.
• Choose a Plain White Background: Take your photo against a solid white background, free of patterns, objects or distractions.
• Find Good Lighting: Position yourself in a well-lit area where your face is clearly visible. Avoid shadows, glare and harsh lighting.
• After three failed attempts, customer will be locked out but can try again later after several hours.
