Meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan

On June 30, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Head of the Government of the country, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, recalled the commendable services of Alisher Mirzonabot, the late Chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, whose body was found in the Panj River on the morning of June 30, and declared a minute of silence in memory of this loyal son of the Motherland.

In the continuation of the meeting, the report of the Minister of Agriculture, Qurbon Hakimzoda, on the State Program for the Innovative Development of the Cotton Sector in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030 was heard.

It was emphasized that the Program was developed taking into account the role of cotton farming in providing the population with jobs, producing raw materials for the development of the light food industry, increasing the volume of exports of products, and introducing a mechanism to ensure the sustainable development of the cotton sector.

It was noted that cotton growing is one of the most important sectors of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tajikistan, and plays an important role in providing employment to the rural population, developing the national economy, and increasing the country's export potential. It was also noted that the program is aimed at solving existing problems and creating a favorable basis for the further development of cotton growing, establishing the cultivation of domestic and foreign cotton varieties, and increasing the human resources capacity of the sector.

Then, the Program for the Development of Silkworm Breeding and Cocoon Processing in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030 was discussed.

It was emphasized that the main goal of the Program is to increase cocoon production, provide employment, develop exports, attract investment, and modernize cocoon processing technologies. It was also noted that the project is designed for five main areas - the organization and development of mulberry gardens, import of silkworm seeds, silkworm breeding, production of cocoons and finished products.

The report of the responsible persons of the sector on the Program for the Development of Rural Libraries in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027-2031 was heard, and it was emphasized that the goal is to promote the development of rural libraries, form a system of advanced training, retraining and training of specialists, strengthen the material and technical base, and adapt their activities to modern requirements.

It was also said that the goal of the program is to provide rural libraries with computer equipment, connect them to the Internet, organize electronic book databases, and increase the literacy of library staff and attract more people, especially adolescents and youth, to reading.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, gave instructions to relevant ministries and agencies to implement the programs.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the work plan of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the second half of 2026, the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Official Statistics", the draft investment agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Limited Liability Company "Crystal Green Glass" on the construction and commissioning of enterprises for the production and enrichment of quartz, panel glass and glass containers, the Rules for the introduction of energy produced from renewable energy sources into the energy system and its sale to users, and support for the Tourism Development Fund of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the end of the meeting of the Government of the country, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, instructed to develop comprehensive programs to promote and encourage a culture of peace within and outside the country, based on the implementation of the United Nations resolution entitled "International Decade for Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations, 2027-2036".

President also gave instructions and recommendations to officials to expand replanting in irrigated lands, increase seed reserves, and adequately welcome the national holiday - 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan - by accelerating development work.
