Gov. Beshear: Silco Fire & Security Breaks Ground on New $6.4 Million Facility in Bullitt County, Creating 64 Full-Time Jobs

Company has been in business for over 65 years and serves more than 45,000 customers

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 21, 2026) - Today, Gov. Andy Beshear announced continued growth of the state's surging economy as Silco Fire & Security - a leader in commercial fire protection - recently broke ground on a new facility in Bullitt County, a $6.4 million investment expected to create 20 Kentucky jobs within the next three years, with the potential to grow to 64 jobs in the future.

"The commonwealth's historic economic momentum would not be possible without Kentucky companies' continuing to reinvest in our employees and communities," said Gov. Beshear. "When businesses have the resources and support they need, it drives expansion projects that create quality job opportunities for Kentuckians across the state. The 64 jobs created from this project will add to the region's strong workforce, and I look forward to the future success Silco has here in Kentucky."

The facility will bring Silco's Louisville-area teams together under one roof and help the company meet growing demand. The $6.4 million investment will support 45 existing employees and is expected to create 20 new jobs within the next three years, and 64 total jobs in the future. Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed in the fall of 2027.

"This investment represents the next chapter of our growth in Kentucky," said Dave Fraser, president of Silco Fire & Security. "We've built a strong team in the Louisville area by bringing together companies with decades of local experience, and this facility gives us the space and resources to continue investing in our people, serving our customers and growing in this market for years to come."

Silco Fire & Security is a trusted leader in commercial fire protection and security, serving businesses across Kentucky, Ohio, Southeast Indiana, Western Pennsylvania and the greater Detroit area for more than 65 years. From fire extinguishers, exit and emergency lighting and fire alarms to sprinkler systems and security cameras, the company delivers comprehensive fire and security services tailored to the unique needs of its more than 45,000 customers. Since 2023, the company has acquired multiple fire protection and security companies in the region, strengthening Silco's local team and presence throughout Greater Louisville, Southern Indiana and surrounding communities.

Bullitt County Judge/Executive Jerry Summers is excited to see the company reinvest in the community: "Silco Fire & Security's continued investment in Bullitt County is a testament to the strength of our local business community and the opportunities our county has to offer. We are proud to see established businesses grow here, create opportunities and continue contributing to our local economy. Congratulations to the Silco team on this exciting milestone, and we wish them continued success in Bullitt County."

Keith Griffee of the Bullitt County Community & Economic Development Authority highlighted the local collaboration that helped bring this investment to the area: "Working with the Pioneer Village City Council to bring this investment to the north end of our county shows how valuable a regional approach is. Silco Fire & Security will strengthen our community."

Silco's investment and job creation furthers what has been the best six-year period for economic growth in state history.

Since the beginning of his administration, Gov. Beshear has announced nearly 1,400 private-sector new-location and expansion projects totaling over $54 billion in announced investments, creating more than 71,000 jobs. This is the highest investment figure secured during the tenure of any governor in the commonwealth's history and $33 billion more than the next highest total.

Gov. Beshear has announced some of the largest economic development projects in state history, which have solidified Kentucky's position as a national leader in automotive and energy storage system battery production: Ford Motor Co.'s nearly $3 billion, 2,200-job commitments in Louisville, as well as its $2 billion, 2,100-job project at the Kentucky 1 plant in Hardin County; Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing's $712 million investment, creating 1,572 jobs in Shelby County; and Toyota's $1.3 billion investment in Scott County, among others.

In February, the Governor announced Kentucky once again set an all-time record for products shipped globally, with $51.6 billion in exports in 2025, representing a 7.65% increase over 2024.

Unemployment rates fell in all 120 counties between December 2024 and December 2025.

The Governor's administration also secured the largest General Fund budget surplus and Rainy Day Fund. In 2023, Kentucky recorded over 2 million jobs filled for the first time ever and has stayed above that number ever since.

In addition, Kentucky has secured rating increases from major credit rating agencies Fitch Ratings, S&P Global Ratings and Moody's Investors Service.

Earlier this year, Site Selection magazine ranked Kentucky in the top five nationally and second in the South Central region for economic development projects per capita in its 2025 Governor's Cup rankings. In June, Area Development magazine awarded the commonwealth a Silver Shovel designation in its 2025 Shovel Awards, which highlight states for attracting high-value investment projects that will create a significant number of new jobs in their communities.

Gov. Beshear also announced a new initiative, called New Kentucky Home, to increase economic investment, attain and attract talent, and increase tourism across the state.

To encourage investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in April preliminarily approved a 15-year incentive agreement with the company under the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based agreement can provide up to $2 million in tax incentives based on the company's investment of at least $2.4 million and annual targets of:

  • Creation and maintenance of at least 64 Kentucky-resident, full-time jobs across 15 years; and
  • Paying an average hourly wage of $53.74, including benefits, across those jobs.

By meeting its annual targets over the agreement term, the company can be eligible to keep a portion of the new tax revenue it generates. The company may claim eligible incentives against its income tax liability and/or wage assessments.

In addition, the company can receive resources from Kentucky's workforce service providers. Those include no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job-training incentives.
