Empowering Youth to Prevent GBV and DV through "Eku Ekee"

August 30, 2025

24-28 August 2025, HDh Atoll - The "Eku Ekee" youth peer education pilot programme was successfully conducted in HDh Atoll, in collaboration with UNDP Maldives and with support from the European Union under the AIM Project.

The five-day programme brought together young participants to build life skills, foster healthy relationships, and strengthen awareness on preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and domestic violence (DV). Through interactive sessions and peer learning, the initiative equipped youth with the tools to serve as advocates and role models within their communities.

By empowering young people as change agents, the "Eku Ekee" programme contributes to a broader effort to create safer, more inclusive communities across the Maldives.
