Webster Votes to Fix Obamacare’s Broken Health Care System

Washington, D.C. -
Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, voted to pass H.R. 6703, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, legislation that takes a practical, market-based approach to lowering health care costs, expanding access to coverage, and restoring accountability in a system that has grown increasingly unaffordable for American families.

"For years, Americans have been forced into a health care system they cannot afford," said Rep. Webster. "Under the so-called 'Affordable Care Act,' Americans have seen premiums skyrocket, fewer health care choices, and their tax dollars used to subsidize a system that works better for insurance companies than it does for patients and families. The Republican plan offers a real solution that allows Americans to purchase the health care they need, at a price they can afford, from a doctor they choose."

While Democrats promised that Obamacare would provide affordable coverage, the American people have experienced the opposite. The average premium for single coverage in 2025 is more than $9,300, with family coverage nearly $27,000 a year. Even with existing subsidies, premiums are projected to continue increasing as the underlying costs of Obamacare grow.

The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act takes a different approach by providing Americans with more options and flexibility to select health care coverage that best fits their needs while lowering costs, expanding access to quality care and increasing transparency in the health care system by:

  • Providing cost-sharing reduction payments to stabilize the individual market.
  • Expanding access to Association Health Plans (AHPs) by allowing small businesses and self-employed workers to band together across industries to access higher-quality, more affordable plans.
  • Strengthening the bargaining power of small business owners and independent workers by giving them access to group rates, more provider networks, and alternatives to costly small-group or individual marketplace plans.
"American families don't need another subsidy for health insurance companies, they need a health care system that's affordable and offers real choices," Rep. Webster added . "The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act delivers a health care system that lowers costs and gives families more control over their health care decisions."

The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act includes provisions from the Working Families Tax Cuts that Congressman Webster fought to include before they were ultimately removed during Senate consideration.
