Massport Celebrates 10,000 Remote Terminal Passengers, Extends Pilot Program

Since its opening on June 1, the Logan Airport Remote Terminal at Framingham has been steadily growing and today saw its 10,000th passenger. Because of the success of the pilot so far, the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is excited to announce an extension of the pilot to March.

"We couldn't be happier with the success of the Remote Terminal over the last two months," said Rich Davey, CEO of Massport. "Passengers have been loving the convenience of the service, not stressing about trying to drive into Boston and getting to ride on the airfield next to planes. The passenger feedback we get from those who have taken this service is integral to the future of this program, and we thank those passengers for trying it out."

Over the last two months, Massport has been making improvements to the Remote Terminal including operational improvements to increase efficiency, working with the TSA to open the security lane earlier, and most importantly adding coffee machines. Passengers are asked to fill out a survey to help us improve the service before Massport expands it to other locations.

"The Framingham Remote Terminal has been a tremendous benefit for Framingham residents and travelers across MetroWest, providing a convenient and innovative way to begin their journey to Logan Airport," said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. "Reaching 10,000 passengers in just two months demonstrates the strong demand for this service, and I am thrilled to see Massport extend the pilot for another year. We look forward to continuing our partnership to make travel easier, reduce congestion, and strengthen Framingham's role as a regional transportation hub."

The Remote Terminal is a first-of-its-kind pilot allows travelers to go through TSA security in Framingham, board a dedicated secure bus, and arrive at Boston Logan beyond the security checkpoint-streamlining their airport experience from start to finish for just $9. Currently, only passengers flying on Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. are able to use this service, though there are plans to expand access to additional airlines in the future. Tickets can be booked from 90 days to 90 minutes before departure.
