The City of Lewisville is partnering with Groundwork Outreach, a Dallas-based nonprofit specializing in data-driven community engagement, to conduct a childcare needs assessment in the 75057 neighborhoods of southern Lewisville. The effort is designed to elevate resident voices and provide actionable insights that will guide city leaders as they work to improve childcare access for families.
The campaign is funded by a grant the City received from the International City/County Managers Association (ICMA)'s Economic Mobility and Opportunity Cohort.
Groundwork Outreach workers will be going door-to-door in the 75057 community from Nov. 4 to Dec. 15 to gather information from residents. Findings from the 16,800 residents and 6,600 households in the 75057 community will help inform policies, programs, and funding decisions that reflect the needs of parents and caregivers.
"Our work is grounded in listening first," said Marie Appel, Founder and CEO of Groundwork Outreach. "Childcare is a cornerstone for family stability and community growth. By meeting residents where they are, we can better understand the barriers they face and highlight the opportunities they see for their children's future,"
City leaders see the project as an important step in strengthening support for families.
"The City prioritizes hearing from our residents on the needs in our community," said Ashleigh Feryan, Assistant Director of Department of Neighborhood Services & Inspection Services. "We are excited to partner with Groundwork Outreach to reach families directly in their own neighborhoods and in their own voices. This feedback will be invaluable in guiding the City's investments in future programming to support childcare and workforce development needs."
Groundwork Outreach brings its proven community engagement model to this initiative, combining on-the-ground hyper local surveying with data analysis to produce actionable strategies. The organization's team of canvassers and strategists reach more than 200,000 households each year across Texas, helping shape policies and programs that expand access to essential resources.
