USDA Celebrates Grand Re-opening of Mobridge Regional Hospital following $41 Million Investment

(Mobridge, S.D., September 10, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development South Dakota State Director Lorraine Polak today celebrated the grand opening of the Mobridge Regional Hospital following its major expansion and remodeling project, made possible through $41 million in USDA Rural Development funding.

"Providing services for more than 60 years, Mobridge Regional Hospital has continued to grow and provide exceptional healthcare," said Polak. "Rural Development is proud to be a part of this expansion and renovation by providing more than $41million in financing. On behalf of USDA Rural Development, we want to congratulate you, your board members, the staff and the community of Mobridge on the completion of this beautiful expansion." [Polak Audio, MP3, 25s]

"The dedicated professionals at Mobridge Regional Hospital work hard to deliver lifesaving care to their community," said Senator John Thune. "This new expansion will go a long way toward increasing services and ensuring more patients can access the care they need."

The new hospital will strengthen regional emergency response capacity, expand labor and delivery care, modernize clinical services, and create an improved experience for patients and caregivers.

"Nearly nine years ago, we asked ourselves what was possible. Today, we're standing in the answer," said Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics CEO John Ayoub. "And with this facility, this community behind us, and this extraordinary team inside it, I cannot wait to see what we do next. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for investing in us. And most importantly, thank you for trusting us to care for you, your families, and this community." [Ayoub Audio, MP3, 27s]

This project is financed through USDA Rural Development's Community Facilities Programs, which provide affordable funding to develop essential community infrastructure in rural areas. Dakotah Bank is partnering to provide more than $7.5 million through a USDA Community Facilities Guaranteed loan. The remaining $33.9 million is provided through a direct loan from USDA.
