SHILOH, Tenn. - Due to the threat of severe weather, Shiloh National Military Park has cancelled the U.S. Military History Timeline and firing demonstrations planned for May 23 and 24.

"With the high probability of heavy rain and lightning forecast for this weekend, we must take into account the safety of our visitors and our volunteer living historians," said Acting Superintendent Randy Martin. "The park is also considering the historic artifacts that our living historians display in the timeline and safeguarding their condition."

The park's annual Memorial Day ceremony on May 25 is still scheduled to take place, with minor adjustments possible depending on weather conditions. If weather is clear in the morning, the ceremony will take place in the Shiloh National Cemetery. If conditions deteriorate, a condensed version of the program will take place in the Visitor Center Auditorium, where seating will be limited.

Visitors planning to attend Monday's Memorial Day program should check for updates on Shiloh's official Facebook or X channels or the park's website at nps.gov/shil.
