Incarcerated Person Walks Away from Intermountain Conservation Camp

LASSEN COUNTY - California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are searching for an incarcerated person who walked away today from Intermountain Conservation Camp in Bieber, Lassen County.

At approximately 2 p.m. staff discovered camp participant Jorge Gayton was missing from the camp during a head count. Staff immediately initiated an emergency count, confirming Gayton was not at the camp. Within minutes, agents from CDCR's Office of Correctional Safety were directed to locate and apprehend Gayton and notification was made to local law enforcement.

Gayton, 38, was last seen wearing gray sweatpants. He is 5 feet, nine inches tall and weighs 214 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and is now clean-shaven.

Gayton was received from Stanislaus County on Jan. 30, 2025. He was sentenced to three years for first-degree robbery and vehicle theft.

Anyone who sees Gayton or has knowledge of their whereabouts should contact any law enforcement agency, or 9-1-1, or contact Special Agent William Miles at 916-203-0971. Since 1977, 99 percent of the incarcerated people who have escaped or walked away from an adult institution, camp, in-state contract bed or Community Rehabilitative Program Placement have been apprehended.
