Introducing the Community Watch Group Program

Introducing the Community Watch Group Program

Published on June 29, 2026

The Menlo Park Police Department is pleased to re-introduce our long standing neighborhood watch program under a new name: the Community Watch Group (CWG). The Community Watch Group is a community based volunteer initiative that encourages residents to work together to promote awareness, communication and neighborhood safety. Through collaboration and information sharing, CWG participants play an important role in supporting crime prevention efforts and strengthening the sense of community within their area.

Although the CWG is organized and led by community volunteers, the Menlo Park Police Department continues to provide valuable support. MPPD offers training, safety information and liaison assistance.

MPPD offers presentations on topics such as:

  • Neighborhood focused crime prevention
  • Personal and community safety
  • CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design)

Active CWG neighborhood captains are eligible to receive an official Community Watch Group yard sign to display at their residence as a symbol of shared commitment to community awareness and safety.

If you'd like to learn more or are interested in bringing the program to your neighborhood please visit the Community Watch Group webpage or email [email protected].
