Hamamatsu, Japan ― Yamaha Corporation announces the release of four new models in its TransAcoustic Guitar lineup: the TAG1 C, TAS1 C, TAG1E, and TAS1E.

First released in 2016, the TransAcoustic Guitar is an innovative acoustic guitar that features Yamaha's TransAcoustic technology, which combines authentic acoustic sound with digital technology for advanced features. String vibrations are converted into electrical signals, which undergo effects processing before being delivered to actuator inside the guitar. These vibrations are then transmitted to the guitar, allowing the actual and processed sounds to resonate together and produce natural sound with rich effects. In 2024, Yamaha released the 2nd Generation model TAG3 C, which features further evolved performance and functionality. It has been praised for offering an acoustic guitar playing experience like never before.

As an expansion of the 2nd Generation TransAcoustic Guitar lineup, Yamaha now introduces four additional models: the middle-grade TAG1 C and TAS1 C, which inherit the DNA of the high-end models, and the entry-grade TAG1E and TAS1E. With variations in body style and specifications, this lineup enables players to choose the model that best suits their playing style and needs.

The TAG1 C and TAS1 C feature a solid Sitka spruce top and a cutaway design that allows easy access to the upper frets for even better playability. The TAG1 C has a dreadnought-style body well suited to powerful strokes, while the TAS1 C has a more compact concert-style body that produces clear, well-defined sound. Both models offer three effects―Reverb, Chorus, and Delay―and support Bluetooth® audio capability, allowing the user to connect to a smart device and play audio through the guitar body.

The TAG1E and TAS1E build on the concept of first-generation models while introducing a refined, modern design and enhanced acoustic volume. These models offer two effects―Reverb and Chorus―providing an easy way to enjoy the TransAcoustic Guitar experience.

  • Note: Letters in the model names indicate the color. NA=Natural, SDB=Sand Burst, TBL=Translucent Black, UM=Ultra Marine

Key Features

1. Enrich your playing experience with fully integrated built-in effects

String vibrations are converted into electrical signals, which undergo effects processing before being delivered to built-in actuators, which transmit these vibrations to the guitar body to produce enhanced sound. This enables the natural acoustic tone and effected sound to blend seamlessly, without the need for external amplifiers or speakers.

The middle-grade TAG1 C and TAS1 C offer three effects―Chorus, Reverb, and Delay. Enjoy high-quality, carefully crafted sound produced by the guitar body through two actuators. Use the dedicated TAG Remote app to change the type of effect and fine-tune effect parameters to discover the perfect sound for your own playing style.

The entry-grade TAG1E and TAS1E feature a single actuator and offer two effects ― Chorus and Reverb ― providing an easy way to enjoy the TransAcoustic Guitar experience.

2. Audio playback through the guitar body using Bluetooth (TAG1 C and TAS1 C)

The TAG1 C and TAS1 C feature Bluetooth audio capability. Connect your own smartphone or other audio device to use the guitar body as a speaker and enjoy listening to the realistic sound. Alternatively, play along with your favorite songs as if you were participating in a jam session, for a fresh, new playing experience.

  • TAG1E and TAS1E do not support Bluetooth functionality.

3. Authentic acoustic guitar sound quality and playing experience, combined with a sophisticated design

The TAG1 C has a dreadnought-style body well suited to powerful strokes, while the TAS1 C has a more compact concert-style body that produces clear, well-defined sound. Both models use a solid Sitka spruce top and feature a cutaway design that allows easy access to the upper frets, achieving a rich tone and excellent playability.

The TAG1E and TAS1E inherit the concept of the first-generation models while incorporating a structure optimized for TransAcoustic Guitars, improving the integration of the natural acoustic tone and effected sound. A solid spruce top also contributes to a richer tone.

All models feature a stylish design, including a distinctive inlay around the sound hole. When connected to an amplifier, they can also be used as acoustic-electric guitars, perfect for use in outdoor performances and live stage settings.
