SGMC Health is pleased to welcome Victoria Johnson, MD, obstetrician and gynecologist, to its growing team of women's health specialists. Dr. Johnson joins SGMC Women's Health on Oak St Ext, a clinic now comprised of two physicians, a certified nurse midwife, and a dedicated team of nurse practitioners. She brings a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, with expertise spanning the full spectrum of women's reproductive health, from adolescence through menopause.
Dr. Johnson specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of gynecologic and obstetric conditions, including menstrual disorders, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, infertility, menopause symptoms, and high-risk pregnancies. She also provides routine preventive care such as Pap smears, breast exams, and contraceptive counseling.
As a skilled surgeon, Dr. Johnson has a particular interest in minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted hysterectomies, myomectomies, and tubal ligations. She is also experienced in performing cesarean sections, especially in complex obstetric cases.
"What drew me to OB/GYN is the unique blend of science, surgery, and long-term patient relationships," said Dr. Johnson. "It's a privilege to support patients through some of the most meaningful and vulnerable moments of their lives, from their first period to childbirth and beyond."
Dr. Johnson received her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, where she also completed her residency training. During her final year of residency, Dr. Johnson was promoted to Administrative Chief Resident, a role that recognized her leadership abilities and commitment to guiding and supporting her peers. There, she developed her warm, empathetic bedside manner and her commitment to shared decision-making. She strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make informed choices about their health.
Her journey into medicine was inspired by a deeply personal experience at a young age, as she watched her grandmother suffer from complications of a stroke. That moment sparked a lifelong passion for understanding the human body and helping others navigate their health journeys.
Now calling South Georgia home, Dr. Johnson is eager to build lasting relationships with patients and families across generations. "I'm looking forward to becoming part of a close-knit community," she said. "SGMC Health stood out to me for its collaborative culture, commitment to excellence, and genuine warmth. I knew right away it was the right fit."
Outside of work, Dr. Johnson enjoys traveling with her husband, Brock, and their energetic two-year-old son, Brave. She's also a music enthusiast with a background in violin and trumpet, a fan of crime TV shows, and an avid event planner who loves creating memorable experiences for friends and family.
Dr. Johnson is now accepting new patients at SGMC Women's Health Oak St, located at 3312 N Oak Street Extension in Valdosta. To schedule an appointment, please call 229-433-8526.
