The President congratulated Ukraine on national day

On Monday, President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and all the people of this country on Ukraine's Independence Day.

"As you mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of independence, this day takes on special significance in light of the Ukrainian people's determination to defend their country and resist Russian aggression. While the aggressor relentlessly attempts to break your spirit, the people of Ukraine demonstrate every day, through their resolve, that their freedom and identity cannot be subjugated", the President wrote in his message of congratulations.

Gitanas Nausėda reaffirmed Lithuania's continuous support for Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. According to the President, respect for the principles of the rules-based international order is the only guarantee of a peaceful future, therefore, Lithuania will never recognize the occupation or annexation of Ukrainian territories.

"Lithuania will continue to be a reliable partner of Ukraine on the international stage. We will make every effort to ensure that military, humanitarian, and financial assistance reaches Ukraine in a timely manner, and that the determination of partners to support your country remains unwavering. We believe that Ukraine should become a member of the European Union by 2030, and we will therefore support the reforms being implemented in Ukraine and provide comprehensive assistance in pursuit of this goal," the message of congratulations reads.

President Gitanas Nausėda stressed that Lithuania maintains a principled position that all those responsible for the crime of aggression and war crimes committed against Ukraine must be held accountable. "We will continue to make every effort to ensure that Ukrainians who have been brutally abducted from their homes or taken captive on the battlefield can return home safely," the Lithuanian Head of State underlined.

"Ukraine's struggle is also our shared struggle for freedom. Lithuania will support Ukraine until its victory," the President of Lithuania wrote in his message of congratulations.
