The new Permanent Representative of Honduras to the Organization of American States (OAS), Cossette Alejandra López-Osorio Aguilar, presented her credentials to OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin during a ceremony held at the Organization's headquarters in Washington, DC.

In her remarks, Ambassador López-Osorio stated that a "solid OAS requires alignment between its political commitments, its operational capabilities, and the legitimate expectations of our peoples-as you know better than I do. You can count on Honduras to advance these goals and to work actively to maintain an open and constructive relationship." She added that Honduras approaches its work at the OAS "with a firm commitment to active listening in order to build consensus and contribute to an Organization of American States that is closer to our peoples, more effective in fulfilling its mandates, and more united around the principles of its Charter."

For his part, Secretary General Ramdin said: "We look forward to working with you and your government. As you begin your tenure, you can count on our support, the support of your colleagues, and the full cooperation of the General Secretariat." Addressing the Ambassador, he added: "You come to the OAS with extensive experience in public service and a deep understanding of the institutions that are fundamental to democratic governance and multilateralism."

The new Permanent Representative of Honduras served as a both member and president of her country's National Electoral Council and also served in the Central American Parliament, where she chaired the Committee on Integration, Trade, and Economic Development.
