ATLANTA - State Representative Carmen Rice (R-Columbus) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability.
"I am honored to serve on this important study committee, and I am grateful to Speaker Burns for the appointment," said Rep. Rice. "As we examine Georgia's education performance measures and workforce challenges, I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues, educators and stakeholders to identify meaningful solutions that support our teachers, strengthen accountability and help ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed."
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability will evaluate Georgia's education evaluation measures to strengthen accountability, improve student success and strengthen teacher recruitment and retention.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robbins), Sandy Donatucci (R-Buford), Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), Phil Olaleye (D-Atlanta), Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee), Omari Crawford (D-Decatur), Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners), Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs) and Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons).

Representative Carmen Rice represents the citizens of District 139, which includes portions of Harris and Muscogee counties. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Education Committee and Secretary of the Special Committee on Resource Management. She also serves on the Judiciary, Juvenile and Transportation committees.
