GPA Midstream and GPSA board elections: Ballot process explained

Elections for GPA Midstream and GPSA boards of directors are about to begin. We encourage Official Representatives from each company to vote when you receive your ballots. The elected board members and officers will set strategic direction for the associations over the next several years.

Here's what you need to know about the voting process for GPA Midstream and GPSA.

GPA Midstream

GPA Midstream's board of directors is comprised of select member companies.

• Each O1 member company is automatically entitled to a board position.
• Each year a committee appointed by the board Chair nominates up to six additional member companies from GPA Midstream's O2, O3, O4 and International membership classes to be elected to two-year staggered terms that start at the end of each Annual Convention. (Associate members are not eligible for election to the board.) The board therefore includes at least 12 elected member companies plus all the O1 member companies.
• The nominating committee also selects candidates for GPA Midstream's officer positions: Chair, Chair-Elect, and three Vice Chairs.
• All director and officer nominations are captured on a ballot circulated by email to the Official Representatives of all GPA Midstream member companies.
• Each board member company is represented on the board by the employee it designates as the company's GPA Midstream Official Representative.

GPSA

GPSA's board of directors is comprised of approximately 10% of its membership, with board seats allocated among GPSA's geographical districts in proportion to the number of member companies in each district.

GPSA's districts include:

• Appalachian Basin
• Houston/Gulf Coast
• Midcontinent
• North Texas/North Louisiana
• Permian
• Rocky Mountain, and
• At-Large.

For the 2026 election process, the board will include 35 member companies, each of whom is represented by its GPSA Official Representative. GPSA board terms are two years from the end of the annual convention. Approximately half the board is up for election each year.

GPSA's President appoints a committee responsible for nominating member companies for election by vote of the Official Representatives of each GPSA member company. Under GPSA's current bylaws, members vote for members from within their own district and those in the At-Large category.

Ballots are emailed to the Official Representative of each GPSA member who the registers the vote of his or her member company.

GPSA's officers serve a one-year term, and each year GPSA's officers automatically progress. When the President's term ends, the First VP becomes the President, the Second VP becoming First VP, and the Third VP becoming the Second VP. The board elects a new Third VP during its meeting at the Annual Convention.

In this year's annual ballot, GPSA members are also being asked to approve revised GPSA bylaws. These changes have been recommended by staff, GPSA's Executive and Finance Committee, and GPSA's board. The changes include:

• How GPSA's annual dues are determined
• Limiting membership benefits to those who timely pay dues
• Assigning each member company to a district based on its principal U.S. office location
• Permitting all members to elect directors from all districts, and
• Eliminating the cap on the number of years an individual can serve on the GPSA board.

GPA Midstream and GPSA Official Representatives should watch for emails so they can vote to elect their leadership for the 2026-27 term and so GPSA can authorize recommended changes to the bylaws.
