Rep. Nancy Mace Issues Statement on the Passing of Former State Rep. Chris Murphy
CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 23, 2026) - Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) released the following statement today on the passing of former South Carolina State Representative Chris Murphy, who died Wednesday at his home in Dorchester County:
"Today, we mourn the loss of a friend, former colleague, and fellow Bulldog, Chris Murphy. Chris and I served together in the South Carolina State House, where he was not only my deskmate but someone who genuinely cared about serving the people of South Carolina.
"Chris devoted his life to public service, from his time as a prosecutor to the Dorchester County Council and the South Carolina House. He leaves behind a legacy of service which touched countless lives across our state.
"Our prayers are with his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. South Carolina has lost a good man and a dedicated public servant. May he rest in peace."
